My fiance and I got into an argument because he told me he had no choice but to buy a new car with an 18% interest rate because his credit was so bad. He bought a brand new dodge charger in 2009 when his lease was up on his '05 charger (who leases a car anyway?) Now my rationality tells me that if you have bad credit, you buy a used car or at least find a financial provider (other than the one the car company recommends) that's not gonna charge you a ridiculous amount of interest. Is there any reason why he would not be able to buy a used car but would be perfectly ok to buy a brand new one?

Ok, I hope I didn't make a big booboo with my car.

I have a 1998 Ford Escort, 120,000 miles. I have a new battery, new spark plugs including the spark cords.

Here's my problem in steps so you can help me understand at least where the problem could be coming from. I don't expect anyone to be a wizard.

1. It's freezing cold here in Colorado, and my car hasn't been started for 5 days because I haven't needed to go anywhere.

2. I decide to start my car for once, and sure enough it starts up the first turn. Not a single struggle.

3. I only let my car warm up until the windows were defrosted. About 8-12 minutes. The car was still relatively cold.

4. I then took off. As I'm driving, my wife and I could feel very very small bumping and thought maybe it's ice stuck to the tires, so we kept driving up till about 4 blocks down the road.

5. As we're driving and hit the 4th block, the car goes out on us. Remember, it's freezing cold.

6. Now my car won't start again.

7. I tried jumping it to no avail. It doesn't start.

8. I tried putting gas in to no avail. It doesn't start

9. The starter seems to work perfect, it's turning hard and good (or trying).

10. The battery is new and it's a beast and it lights up the whole car without letup.

11. The spark plugs and spark plug cords are also new.

12. So, I tried pumping the gas as I turn the starter, then I pump a bit more and hold the gas pedal down to see if it needs to be flushed, but still all It does is "try" to start. It makes the regular sound any car makes when the starter is igniting.

So, now what? What could be wrong? Could bad oil, or not enough oil be causing it? Maybe the alternator? But that doesn't make sense because the batter had no problem whatsoever lighting my car up, radio and all including speakers and lights at max capacity.

My dread and fear is the engine….

I need support and comfort lol
I will try it again tomorrow and hopefully it has mercy on me.

often in the mornings my 2003 ford mondeo when i start it the dashboard resets itself – the recent driven miles reset to zero, all the dials go up tothe top and then come back to their zero, as does the petrol guage which then reverts to what pertrol is in there. this happens while holding the key over and then the car starts, albeit with a bit of a struggle. in the last couple of weeks their has been a couple of incidents where the dash does it's weird thing but the car will not start in the morning and I have to roll start it. 8 hours that day the car starts fine, but then left overnight the car wont start. as it's really cold at the moment maybe it's taking more battery power to start?
does it sound like the battery is not holding it's charge?
the lights and everything work fine regardless.
any ideas would be gratefully received!
