Hi there i would shop round, check out motor factors for alternator prices, you can get reconditioned ones also look for a repair place which should cut the cost down. Jock abbasrest.org

150 pounds is equal to $233. US dollars. Your deal may or may not be so good and hears why: Thus far, you haven't told us what the warranty is in the alternator that is being installed. If it has a life-time warranty, 150 pounds is a great deal. If it does not have a life-time warranty, walk away from the alternator swap-out by this mechanic.

In the USA, individual auto parts stores charge right around $230. – $245. for a lifetime warrantied alternator. The plot thickens! Auto parts stores who are AC-Delco distributors charge as low as $145.00 for lifetime alternators for Ford vehicles. A good mechanic doesn't like to waste your money and their time installing alternators and starters unless they have a life-time warranty.

That's a good price. Mine cost £180. Go to Ford and you will part company with £400.

That is about the going rate, fitted. You could possibly get it fitted by a back street garage for £10 to £15 cheaper but I wouldn't advise it.

That's not bad actually. The new alternator is probably £80-100, plus half an hour's work plus VAT.
