The R32 is easier to mod the RB engine on the GTR is good for well over 1000bhp yes the 350z is tunbale also and a great car also but not to RB figures or not as easy.
The R32 GTR was named Godzilla due to its race heritage and changing motor racing rules due to its wins in every race.Parts for the Skyline are not hard to find with plenty of aftermarket parts out there and many parts bolt on bolt off from other Nissans also when i had my R32 and now with my R33 Nissan stock parts or send off for them which even then only takes just over a week to get.The R32 is super light and with its altessa and hicas setups makes it even now a modern car which was compared to the technology of a space shuttle when it came out.
Which one look better the R32 looks older but with both my Skylines each journey never failed to attract a crowd and people from children to people in there 80's would come and talk to me about them.
The 350z a great underrated car with tuning abilites and overall a great car and def a car i would own some point in my life i hope.It looks more modern than the R32 but the R32 has its name and that does mean a lot to people as you will find with the public and driving any Skyline never fails to give you a smile and foot down and the sound of that RB is amazing.
Honest answer do not miss out on the R32 it is truly a great car and a car i waited years and years to own and it did not let me down andbeing that impressed with have stuck with Skylines and will only move onto Skylines for the next few cars at least.
Would i get a 350z def but the R32 is getting older and when it becomes a classic prices will prob go up so i would enjoy one while i could and then move onto a 350z and if they are old after i have had my time with the R32 then i would just go for a 370z.But i would def go for the R32 first get one which has been looked after and you will really get that Skyline smile.
The Skyline offers a detuned engine which was detuned due to rules in Japan up until 2005 which kept all cars below 276bhp although makers would send there cars through with more power and again just detuned this means simple mods would release the engines true power and parts as in brakes suspension etc where added by the makers to cope with the increase in bhp figures as they know people would do this. The GTR people would buy and dyno them at around 330bhp and with simple mods they would see around 600bhp with stock internals and further mods bhp figures would hit well over 1000bhp.Also a bloke in my twon modded his GTS25T Skyline to 800bhp whilst it was on the road outside his house.
I would go with a Z33 FairladyZ; easier to modify, smaller and lighter than an R32 and you can mod them very easilyu – hell, you can probably drop a Chevrolet LS3 engine (from a Corvette) inside and make one killer of a sleeper.
In the USA a 350 Z will be legal and the GT-R will not be street legal. Emissions and safety regulations will have to be certified. If you know a Japan parts supplier you might be able to get parts for your old GT-R. Both cars motor upgrades are costly. Your choice. Good Luck
Mm… a bit unfair the 350z is way newer, so the 350z all the way, however if comparison were with the R34 easy win for the Skyline.
To evaluate both cars in terms of performance you can help yourself with a car performance simulator, you can add both and run several test you may like, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com
